The gospel of Christ is the main thing and must therefore be central to all we do. We distinguish between the gospel (God’s work and announcement in Christ) on the one hand and human response to the gospel on the other. We aim to speak about Jesus and His work for us in our leading, praying, preaching, singing and informal conversations. We want the gospel of God’s grace and Christ’s sacrificial Lordship to shape our teaching and our life together in every way.
Question: What can go wrong if we confuse ‘the gospel of grace’ with ‘the human response to the gospel of grace’? That is, what happens if we say that ‘obedience’ or even ‘faith’ is part of the gospel?
